I would like to suggest expanding the use of cinnabar in Minecraft by giving it a more mineral-based progression instead of being just a solid decorative block.
Cinnabar is a real mineral, so it would be great if it could generate in a more natural form, similar to how amethyst works. Instead of only having a full block, there could be different stages or variants of cinnabar embedded in cinnabar block.
These mineral variants would generate naturally in sulfur caves, appearing as part of the cave walls rather than as separate structures. This would make exploration feel more immersive and realistic.
Additionally, cinnabar could have a functional use:
Extracting mercury. Players could obtain mercury from cinnabar using a furnace or another processing method. Mercury could then be used for future mechanics, such as crafting, redstone-related features, or other unique gameplay systems.
This would give cinnabar both decorative and practical value, while also making it feel more connected to real-world geology and Minecraft’s progression system.
