In real life if a plant gets too much sulfur, it stops growing. A lot of Minecraft buildiers use a string to stop plants from growing to make things look in certain way but unfortunetly such placed string doesn't allow players to put blocks above/below such plant and the string is visible. Sulfur is a chance to make this function look better and more effective for players.
