The ability to organize worlds within Minecraft would be very useful on the world selection screen, but particularly the ability to create world forks or branches organized hierarchically by MC version along with world folders. This would also facilitate the creation of world backups, but the intent is subjective. For those with many different worlds, it is a necessity for organizing and locating worlds efficiently.
Unlike "Re-Create World", a world fork will copy an existing world or fork virtually or actually. Virtual copies could share common world data, i.e. unmodified chunks, and each can be their own MC version with additional configuration for how these virtual worlds should handle modified chunks between different MC versions. Actual world copies would create real copies of the world. The ability to import and export world forks to allow virtual world forks to become separate entities or reassimilated into the virtual world should also be available.
