The idea is very similar to Twitch or YouTube Partner Programs. The idea is to reduce pay-to-win servers by introducing a partner program that pays large servers based on the amount of active players.
The guidelines for this program are simple:
- The server must be large with a daily active player count larger than (500 for example).
- The server must agree and/or sign a legal contract to prevent abuse.
- The server must implement a plugin / module coded by mojang to send active player statistics to mojang to be verified and to calculate a payout.
- The server must have no pay-to-win but can still sell cosmetic items as long as it doesn't give an unfair advantage.
- The server must adhere to stricter safety guidelines.
How it works:
- A plugin/program/module coded by mojang and implemented by server developers will send active player statistics to mojang servers to be verified (prevent bots) and mojang will implement their own payment algorithm.
- Any server that participates in this program will need a "Agree to the terms and conditions" upon log-in (implemented by the client not server).
- Any server suspected of falsifying player statistics will be investigated, terminated from the program, and/or subject to legal action.
- The program will be opt-in, so anarchy servers such as 2b2t can remain a sandbox server, while servers like hypixel can join.
- Mojang will promote and support the servers directly.
Goal of the program:
- Reduce the amount of pay-to-win servers by providing subsidies.
