Dear Mojang, I’m tired of building large farms in my survival world with dedication, only to see mobs spawning in my crops or passive mobs wandering through and trampling my farmland.
My suggestion is the addition of a Scarecrow, a simple structure that helps protect crops and makes farms feel more alive.
Description
The Scarecrow would be created in a similar way to other Minecraft constructs.
To build one, the player places two Hay Bales vertically and a Carved Pumpkin on top. When this structure is completed, it transforms into a scarecrow entity, similar to an armor stand, remaining stationary.
When a scarecrow is created, it causes no mobs to spawn on or walk over farmland within a 32-block radius, and nearby mobs will move away from the area.
To keep the mechanic balanced, the Scarecrow only works if it is surrounded by farmland blocks, preventing it from being used to protect entire bases.
The Scarecrow can also act as a training dummy, allowing players to hit it repeatedly.
When broken, it drops the two Hay Bales and the Carved Pumpkin used to build it.
If the player wants to remove it instantly, they can simply break the block below it.
This mechanic would help protect large farms, encourage more open farming builds, and solve a common survival frustration while fitting naturally into Minecraft’s farming theme.
