The Nest is a group of hostile mobs that work together as a team, covering each other's weaknesses with individual strengths. I will list them in the order players will encounter them.
Pawns: These will be about the size and speed of a baby zombie, with lower to no attack and higher knockback. Their goal will be to keep players away from their team members.
Bodyguards: These have high health, high defense, and large hitboxes. They will be slow most of the time, with occasional speed boosts when they take hits for more valuable team members, like a reverse enderman teleportation with more limitations.
Snipers: These focus on firing ranged attacks at players knocked back by Pawns and staying protected by Bodyguards.
Optional: Medic and Queen. The medic would focus on healing team members, like witches in raids on Java Edition. The Queen would summon new team members, like an evoker summoning vexes. Both of these roles are optional, and it would likely be best to add only one of them. They could also be combined with the Sniper role, consolidating the team.
Appearance wise, I imagine them as insectile humanoids, inspired somewhat by ants. This adds to the hivemind lore, and it gives Bane of Arthropods an additional use. They would have their own structure, which would play to their strengths.
I will leave other details to the developers and the community. I think that the Queen could drop an item that sacrifices experience points to respawn pets, but that is just an option.
