Right now, when I put diamonds in a furnace, the UI looks exactly the same as when I'm burning wood. Wouldn't it be cool if the interface actually matched what you're making?
Here's the idea:
A new kind of .mcpack file that lets you change how menus look based on what items are inside. Drop iron ore in a furnace? The whole interface turns into a blacksmith style. Crafting with diamonds? The workbench gets all sparkly. Burning netherite? Make it look like lava!
How it works is simple:
- Make a pack with "oreuiresources" as the type
- Write a few lines telling the game "when this item is in this slot, use this picture"
- Add your own backgrounds, slot designs, and even sounds
- Share it as a .mcpack file like any other pack
It could check all sorts of things - what item you're using, where you are, what time it is. Multiple packs? Just set which one wins when they conflict.
This would be huge for map makers and anyone who wants their world to feel more alive. Imagine opening a chest in a dwarven mine and seeing a stone UI, or using an enchanted table with glowing purple borders!
Installation is exactly like resource packs - double click and you're done. Press F3+U to see what pack is active.
Just a thought! Thanks for reading :)
