It is so user-UN-friendly. Use to, you could go to the website, buy a copy, download and install it, and play. That simple.
Now in order to play this game (which I've bought for so many consoles and for PC now) I have to go to a website, pick a version to buy, make sure it's the same version that my friends all have, buy it, then open a separate app (the Microsoft Store) in order to download and install another app just to launch it, then download and install yet another separate app (the Xbox App, and no, not any of the three other pre-installed xbox apps) JUST SO I CAN MAKE A DESKTOP SHORTCUT.
Imagine being a little kid, asking your parent to buy you Minecraft on the home computer so you can finally play with your friends. You finally get them to buy it, and then they say, "Wait, where did my money go? I don't see a desktop icon! Are you sure this is the right website? You know I don't have time for scams." After half an hour of your confused parent panicking, and another half hour of searching for answers online, you then have to convince them that in order to play the game, which they have already paid for, they have to open an app, just to download a different app. Then, because you know the taskbar pin of the launcher is gonna get deleted, you have to convince them to download yet another app just to make a desktop shortcut. And then after all of that, you launch the game and can't play with your friends because your mom bought Java Edition because it's the default option
