Flood (Cave Mob)

Flood is a new mob that can be killed in one hit with an iron sword, do the same amount of damage as a zombie, but walk super fast, and travel in large groups to kill the player like piranhas. The mobs would spawn from a new block that generates in the deepslate levels. When the player gets close enough, the block would spew out 15 to 20 Flood mobs and disappear. This would add a new sense of danger to the deepslate half of the underground.

    Challenge advancement: "Armoured Box of Bones!" - get hit by a Flood while wearing full netherite armour.

    This idea is very good as there are few unique mobs that appear in the cave.

    Believe it or not, this could actually fit a storytelling update, especially if we consider the horror genre. Flood could surround the deepslate layer & make traversal more difficult than it was before, which is good given that some could still easily achieve a couple diamonds without the fear of being eaten alive by zombies, as is the usefulness of the iron sword.

     

    Although I'd avoid calling it the flood, since a certain space game already does that... I'd preferably call it a "legion".

    This suggestion summed up: Add baby zombies that spawn in hoards but have less HP.
