This new Piglin variant will spawn exclusively to a new nether biome, the living cavity (see living cavity post), and will be hostile to the player and all mobs other than itself. It is a mob that’s been infected by the mold and interestingly enough, the only mob to be infected by the mold, like zombification. A new unique mechanic to this mob is that it is able to summon hordes. When an infected Piglin sees a player, the player will have a certain amount of time to kill that infected Piglin otherwise it will make a screech that summons a horde of infected piglins, that also go in waves. On 1st wave; 2 infected piglins are summoned, on the 2nd wave; 4-8 infected piglins are summoned, and the final wave summons 20-30 infected piglins. These wave of hordes will rise from the ground at random intervals and distance from the player, that way the player has a chance to escape the horde. Infected piglins will no longer chase the player once they leave the living cavity biome and the wave resets. The wave also resets once all alerted infected piglins have been killed. The infected piglins health will be fairly low but can deal a fair amount of damage and can run fast, they will also be highly resistant to arrows so that they are not easily sniped from a safe distance. Whilst the spawn rate of infected piglins in the living cavity are very low, certain mold variants in the living cavity can also alert infected piglins if the player isn’t careful enough.
