    Agreed there are too many slimes, but rather than changing the light spawning mechanics, I think reducing the spawn height for slimes such that the logic returns to “slimes spawn low in the world” would be sufficient. Caves & Cliffs added practically an entire world beneath us, but the slimes still spawn as though y=0 is the bottom of the world. I feel like y=0 should be the highest they spawn outside of swamps. As it is, there are way to many slimes everywhere, because larger caves make for more spawnable space, which means slimes chunks are more noticeable and produce nothing but slimes once the cave is lit up. Moving the spawn height lower would allow us to have large caves we can enjoy building in but still provide good spots to get slime balls, just that “we need to go deeper” as it were.
