Adjustable music frequency

I have historically had the music setting turned off when playing Minecraft, but upon the release of new in-game music I have started playing with it on. One thing that I notice is that I can go for quite some time without any of the music fading in, which is very unfortunate as I want music when I play. Thus I'm forced to either deal with not having music 90% of the time or turning off Minecraft music and playing my own background music. It would be incredibly useful if there was an option that allowed you to adjust how often you hear music in-game.
