Right now, sleep is overpowered.
Sleep keeps players from exploring a world. It makes them feel safe, and if they keep skipping the night they'll never want to explore. And Phantoms make that problem worse. Going out mining for days punishes you with Phantoms. Redstone contraptions that require a player to not sleep is punished with Phantoms. In order to prevent this, a player must keep a bed on them always. Which goes against the idea of setting spawn points.
The Phantom is actively against the very idea of exploration.
So, the Phantom should be a mob that punishes those who actively want to stop exploring. If a player constantly sleeps, but misses one night, they are forced to fight Phantoms. What about players who never sleep? Unaffected.
Why would a game about exploring, suggest a mob that deters exploring?
