The Pumpter would be a rare pumpkin-wearing, ghostlike plant mob that could be found in any type of forest and grassy plain, except for the jungle. Afraid of every hostile mob, the Pumpter would float above the trees at night to avoid the dangers below. However, Pumpters wouldn’t be attacked by hostile mobs yet. Like with taming, players could give Pumpters bonemeal until love hearts appear, showing that the player has befriended the creature. After love hearts appear, the Pumpter would plant itself in a nearby grass or dirt block (that didn’t have any block above it), which would begin the player’s true test of friendship. Over the course of the next three days, the player would have to defend the planted Pumpter from hostile mobs; all hostile mobs within render distance would be attracted to and attack the Pumpter. While most players would surround the Pumpter with blocks, the planted Pumpter would break and die if any block is placed or mined within a 3x3 area of it; the Pumpter would also die if it didn’t get sun and moon exposure. The benefit of protecting the Pumpter would be its transformation into a golemlike form. This golem version of the Pumpter would be a faithful pet that would follow and defend players; when hurt, the golem Pumpter could be healed with bonemeal. When killed, both versions of the Pumpter could drop the pumpkin that it was wearing.
