Similar to how a guitar string vibrates, producing noise, string on a tripwire hook should be able to vibrate, transmitting useful information across distance, as different vibrations can carry with them different Redstone signal strengths.
First, the sculk sensor on one end will vibrate, producing a certain frequency (signal strength) and sending it onto the adjacent tripwire hook. The tripwire hook then carries the vibration to its destination, which has a sculk sensor adjacent as well to pick up the vibration and do whatever it pleases with it.
It wouldn't be an outright replacement for Redstone, as it's not completely game-breaking, however, I think it can bring with it a lot of opportunities and creativity from the Minecraft community.
To make it not overpowered, of course, if the string is stretched too thin, the vibration will be diluted to the point where the sculk sensor can not detect it.
I just think it would be a useful addition, and (at least in my opinion) makes sense and isn't too overpowered in what can be done with it.
