I think frogs should be mostly dormant during the day, becoming active at dawn and dusk like real-life (this is called Crepuscular). It would be cool if they all croaked and called to each other around dusk like many species of frogs. This would make sunsets in the swamp even more magical. They would also feed on Fireflies at sunset, and be less likely to hide from players coming near them. During the day they would spend their time swimming or hiding, not jumping around a lot. At night they would be "asleep", not jumping around and possibly resting at the bottom of a nearby pool of water, or in/under a tree for tropical frogs. This brings me on to swimming. Frogs in real life can breathe through their permeable skin as well as their lungs, allowing them to dive underwater for much longer than most other land animals without drowning. In-game frogs could do this too, and be able to remain underwater for longer than other animals. Frogs in real life also swim differently depending on the type. I suggest that frogs from Swamps swim fast and well, while snowy ones have mediocre swimming, and tropical frogs spend much less time swimming and are considerably slower at it.
