Give a settings option for players to make chests respawn with random loot through out the world again in already explored locations. Give the player the incentive to return to previously discovered areas to find loot, albeit if it's less rare than what they originally got, or harder to kill mobs repopulate the chest place.
Maybe enable this option in the edit world settings after defeating the Ender dragon and setting a real-time timer/ limit on how many times you can do it.
Going back to places were pillagers or other enemy mobs group around is ambient given their locations, but it doesn't make much sense to spawn these enemies or piglins in bastions if what they're guarding is gone.
It sounds complicated. I can let slide that maybe you can disable trophies once you enter the option, but I'd like to re-explore previous areas maybe with some random event that occurs.
Tip: Make treasure maps despawn so that ships can generate new maps with different chest locations.
I started marking places I already been, but it turns pretty annoying once I see I already looted the place.
Idk how u could integrate such a mechanic, but it'll bring more players to their old worlds and rediscover things like it were new.
P.S. The possibility of finding a way to exploit this is pretty high and I can't deny that. Perhaps you could figure out a way to make it tedious for players who want to farm out items from rng. Maybe keep the clock idea and have it check the time passed via online servers.
