3D Armour models for minecraft

So in Minecraft we have the ability for 3D models in recourse packs we can use for blocks and Items but not for armour.

I would like the ability to make 3D armour models in Minecraft. For example being able to add horns or ornaments to helmets or the mowhawk like Corinthian helmets. Or changing the Elytra model to a plane of some kind.
