Villagers already have iron golems to protect them, but they’re often slow and quite often aren’t all that efficient at getting the job done, and also spawn in incredibly small numbers. To make villages a little more defensible, I propose a new mob: the Sentry. They could be player sized stone golems, perhaps with 15 health. Perhaps there might be around five for most villages. Sentries would act like golems and defend the villagers from hostile mobs and players, but they could also attack the player if they steal something from a village chest. Or something like that. Perhaps the player can acquire them through emerald purchases, either through iron golems or a claimed bell. I’d imagine they could be equipped with armor and weapons as an undead mob could be. Also perhaps, sometimes sentries might get a little greedy and steal emeralds from the neighboring villages. But doesn’t have to be included and that’s fine.
