The conduit is one of the most interesting Minecraft features. It magically gives the player underwater powers. The game, though, gives very little information to the player on how to build these. It seems likely that the previous inhabitants of the world would have known of Conduit Power and would have used it to their advantage.
Appearance and locations:
There would be different kinds of Conduit Remnants, varying in size, materials and state of decay. They would not contain the Conduit in the middle (similarly to how the Ruined Portals are unlit). They would appear next to underwater structures, such as Ocean Ruins (hence, occasionally on land) and Ocean Monuments. Since they would spawn next to places with loot, I don’t think it makes too much sense to add loot to them necessarily.
Conduit Remnants would deepen the lore and give a useful hint to new players.
