Redstone usually feels a bit out of place in Minecraft, the only natural component are the redstone ores.
Since it is both a power source and a type of cristalized dust, i can imagine there would be an origin to redstone, aswell as a natural biome where it can grow.
My idea was to create a new cave biome, the Red Caves, which would look similar to Nether's foretresses or the Strongholds. It would have a different look to it and include a brand new item, the Redstone vines. These would be vines that acquired similar capabilities to redstone itself and only can be placed vertically.
This biome would be perfect for the Redstone Golem/Monstrosity if it ever gets into Minecraft itself, aswell as a brand new mob: The Redstone Virus
Redstone Virus would be the smallest mob in the game, despite having the lowest health it would have a really small hitbox and would jump all over the place. And if another mob is nearby, it can infect it, making them stronger in attack and health and more agressive than before. It can even infect yourself in some cases, any infected mobs will activate any redstone mechanisms they cross and if the mob dies, the Redstone virus can look for a new host.
These caves may also have Redstone armor or weapons too
I can see these caves, items and mobs making Redstone feel way more natural and connected to the world of Minecraft and not just another ore.
