Launcher Scripting Feature

The current launcher is great, but what would it be like if it had scripting capabilities? We would no longer have to rely on insecure third-party launchers that may offer better features, but look nowhere near as good as the official launcher. Everyone could extend the launcher the way they want without having to sacrifice comfort and security. For this, one could use already existing and easy to learn programming languages like Python or Javascript.

It would already be a good start to have an extra tab (for example between the patch notes and the skin selection) that you can program the way you want (e.g. to download modpacks or to sort, manage or share screenshots).

Maybe some would also like to customize their news page, and only read the news they are really interested in, for example, you don't have a realm and don't want to receive news about it.
