You place it in wherever you want to connect a gap between rails without using a block.
Once placed, you must click the rail and insert the ten rails you want or 20 lead. Not all need to go in. It is one gui slot. Once inserted, it will connect with one of the connections and it will light up red. Insert another rail or lead, it will light up another connection. Once all 10 rails or 20 lead are connected, it will have all light up on both sides. Determine the order by placing in the gui slot. First in first out. To get one of the rails or leads back, click in the gui slot. Last rail or lead inserted will already be in the slot.
To have it extend, you must power it via redstone. If pulsed by an observer or fast redstone pulse, it will extend 1. Another pulse extends another track. After all are extended, pulses will retract rail until all are gone. If lever on, all rails will extend. If lever off, they will retract all. Repeaters can control the extension. 1 tick = 1 out. 2 tick = 2 out. Etc.
