Info
The “Haunted” feature is an event that occurs when the spirits of mobs that passed away come back to life in ghost form. The ghosts can possess certain mobs, blocks, and items.
Functions and Properties
When mobs such as villagers, illagers, pets, and golems get killed by the player, they have a very rare chance to be “ghosts.” These ghosts are most of the time not visible to players, but they can rarely appear as faint, blurry versions of their “alive” selves. They are not hostile, but are intended to spook the player.
When the ghosts come in contact with a certain block, they will phase into it. When the block is broken walked on, or a block has been placed on it, the spirit comes out of the block and makes spooky noises. The player will also have some of their tools lose durability, even if they didn’t mine the block.
If the ghost haunts an item, that item will have a flaw/debuff in some way, such as low durability or not being able to be placed.
If the ghost haunts a mob, that mob will act the same as the dead mob would. For example, hostile mobs possessed by passive mob ghosts would not attack the player, and vice-versa.
Notes:
Ghosts can only haunt a block that was placed by the player
Ghosts can phase through walls.
