A new remnant of the people that built the Desert Temples has been found…
The Structure would have 2 parts:
- The Well: Right by Villages, Desert and Jungle Temples, there would be wells akin to the Desert Well, albeit adapted to the biome. Some would be in a ruined state. They would generate with a water column to the chamber.
- The Chamber: They would spawn both in the Overworld and in the Nether. They would consist of long corridors with stone blocking the tunnels. These were once pristine tunnels, dug with vaulted ceilings, cladded with Quartz on the walls and ceiling, and with Soul Sand flooring, but have since been forgotten and now show a decrepit state.
On the blocked parts of the tunnel, the player could mine and find remnants of the fallen tunnels (Soul Sand, columns…). By following this trail, they would be able to find other chambers. Eventually, they could follow the trail to another chamber with a well.
Why were they built?
The people that inhabited the world before the player, discovered the power of souls as a mean of transportation by using Soul Speed. So, they built highways to link settlements.
Some tunnels linked settlements directly via the Overworld while some longer links required the well chambers to have a Nether Portal and the link to be dug in the Nether. That’s why there wouldn’t be wells in the Nether despite there being chambers.
There could be dozens of different chambers but, generally, they could either be filled with treasure or monsters.
