If a village is close enough to another, say, within 400 blocks, a road would be created connecting them. (this road would be more of a path). This would give a use for the Desert Well structure, which could be placed roadside. These paths could also have campsites, or small Inns, which are inhabited by villagers.
This would allow for many villages to get linked together in a chain.
If the villages are from 400-900 blocks away, a road would peter out but would point in the general direction of another village. If it's further than that, there wouldn't be any roads.
The reason this makes sense is that Villages are most likely not self-sufficent, and they must know about their neighboring villages. to emphasize this, a wandering trader could occasionally spawn on this road.
This would make the world feel more alive, and it makes sense. This would also encourage newer and older players alike to explore if they knew that something existed at the other end.
I'm not going to pretend I would even know how this would work, but I feel like it would dramatically increase the game's quality of life.
