No entrance to caves in experimental mode

I've been playing experimental mode on Minecraft 1.17.10 on Bedrock edition. I've noticed that when I'm looking for the caves I cannot find any openings above ground therefore I have to dig down to get into the actual cave and there is actually no entrance to it

I thought I was going nuts trying to find a cave when I couldn't. But It is experimental gameplay after all.
