What does Dynamic Growth/Traits look like in Rabbits:
Traits:
Traits are/would be a list of qualities (similar to horses) that change a rabbit's behavior and abilities, these trait will be pasted on to off-spring but have a random chance of having one or more traits randomly altered slightly.
- speed
- jump strength
- caution (determines how close the rabbit is willing to get towards a player/predator)
- color (determines the rabbit's texture.)
Growth:
Growth would be the addition of activating breeding mode when ever a rabbit stole a carrot from a farm(rabbits already steal carrots)
What does this add
This gives early game players a small but fun challenge if they live near rabbits. They could make a fence to keep out the rabbits but then a new generation of rabbit may have a slightly higher jump allowing them to eat more yummy carrots. The player now has many options to pursue, from building a better fence to breeding fox in an attempt to rive out the rabbit population. The longer a rabbit survives the more carrots it will eat and the more off-spring it will have (like a mini ecosystem where the player can decide how things continue).
I think this follows the "bad things happen because of a player (more rabbits because of the players ohh so sweet carrots) or can be prevented by the player(building a green house, breeding fox....)"
How could this be done
It could be a small project for devs with less of a work load or ones that just joined the team.
Let me know what you like and don't.
