Minecraft villages need an upgrade. We've gotten several updates to villages in the past, in 1.14. However, the last update to the structures (not counting Pillager-related structures or the adding, removing, and re-adding of abandoned villages) was a while ago, around 1.10. I am not asking for new village houses, I am asking for a complete redesigning of the village structures.
The design of village houses are very 2012, even with the addition of campfires, lanterns, bells, and other newer items, you simply can't hide the fact that the design of village houses hasn't changed much in the past now almost decade. I am going to list my ideas in a formal list.
Villages
Plains
The current overall theme is great. just make the buildings a bit bigger, with a bit of a more Tudor-style, and use diorite in the walls. Give the roofs a grander look, have windowsills, as well as chimneys. For the blacksmith, a 2-story house with the second story being a bit bigger than the first, with a slight overhang. The first story being a sort of garage made out of cobble. For the church, make it more of a cathedral.
Taiga
Same as plains, but with spruce wood
Desert
Keep it very similar to how it is now, but with the buildings a lot closer together, with narrow streets. Hang banner from fences stringing high up from wall to wall.
Jungle
Jungle log walls with lots of vines.
Coast
Just add some boats.
Conclusion
These are just my suggestions, but please consider them, as village structures need an update.
