These versions can serve special purposes such as trade, heal, fight along side you, etc. for a payment that corresponds to what they are. An example of this could be an Enderman who travels between dimensions looking for things to add to his collection (you can tell it apart from a regular one due to it's clothes) who will trade overworld or nether items in exchange for materials from the end. (purpur, end rods, chorus fruit) This could also play into some lore aspects, like how overworld items got into the end cities. Another thing that isn't necessary, but could be a nice touch, is dialogue. This could add personality to each character, and this could also benefit Mojang by giving them merchandise opportunities. Another example could be a zombie with an umbrella during the day wearing a miner's uniform, who sells rare gems in exchange for mining gear to help it find even more. These include, pickaxes, shovels, torches, and maybe something new, like a mining helmet. As you can see, there are tons of different possible traders. Maybe even a Piglin who sells potions. In his dialogue, it is explained that he has a potion type that allows him to enter the overworld without any side effects.
