Dear Mojang,
I am a huge fan of Minecraft and have been playing for many years. One of the most special aspects of the game is the bond players create with wolves. For many of us, taming a wolf is not just a gameplay feature — it is like adopting a dog. A lot of players even name their in-game wolf after their real-life pet.
With the recent addition of new wolf variants, this emotional connection has become even stronger. However, when breeding wolves of different variants, the puppy simply inherits one parent’s full appearance instead of combining traits.
I believe it would be a wonderful improvement if wolves could mix visual characteristics when bred, similar to how horses combine patterns and colors. For example:
- Mixing fur colors
- Combining markings or face patterns
- Creating unique coat variations
This would allow players to create wolves that resemble many real-life dog breeds, including mixed breeds — which represent a huge portion of beloved pets around the world.
Not only would this add more depth and replayability, but it would also strengthen the emotional attachment players have to their wolves. Minecraft is a game about creativity and personal expression, and allowing wolf variants to combine would fit perfectly within that philosophy. This system could also make dogs a existing animal in the game and create a new goal for players: collecting all wolf variants to combine them and discover new dog types.
