It’s a simple idea with great potential, since jungles can feel somewhat empty and could use more interaction. I suggest adding monkeys as a new jungle mob. They could steal random items from the player’s inventory, but with a probability system to prevent it from becoming too frustrating. They could also throw bananas and have a natural rivalry with pandas.
Monkeys would have different emotions that change their behavior. The sad monkey would sometimes cry, and if given a banana, it would hug the player and point toward a nearby chest. The happy monkey would eat bananas and, if given one, would reward the player with a random common item. The playful monkey would steal an item but return it if given a banana or after playing a small mini-game. The angry monkey would attack and steal, reject bananas by throwing them back, but become scared by the bark of a tamed dog and drop a banana while fleeing.
If one monkey is attacked, nearby monkeys would also become hostile, except for the sad one.
