Spear damage & charge attack values appear to be hardcoded, tied solely to the spear's material/tier. This can pose as problematic to developers who need the ability to tweak weapon/attack values to maintain balance in custom maps or servers.
There's been a lot of great updates lately when it comes to customizing things in-game, especially regarding item models and attributes. Spears seem to stick out (lol) in this regard, as their damage doesn't scale with attack damage at all, cannot be changed via attributes on the player OR weapon, and cannot be modified in any meaningful way to fine-tune their balance in customized games.
Since Spears appear to have a lot of unique mechanics that don't tie in with existing attributes whatsoever, it might make sense to either add new attributes regarding spears or allow spear mechanics to be affected by existing attributes. For example:
- Spear Charge damage should either tie into "attack_damage" or have its own similar attribute that can be changed on spears or players.
- Spear Charge knockback should tie into "attack_knockback" or its own attribute.
- Spear Charge activation delay should either tie into "attack_speed" or its own attribute.
- Spear Charge stages/durations should also have their own attribute, so they're not solely tied to material.
