The Withered Zombie: A Unique Undead for the Nether

The Concept:

To match the Wither Skeleton, the Nether should have its own specialized zombie variant. I suggest the Withered Zombie—a charred, skeletal zombie that adds to the dangerous atmosphere of the Nether.

Visual Design and Mechanics:

  • Appearance: The Withered Zombie has charcoal-gray skin and a unique model with an exposed ribcage, similar to the Zombie Horse. This makes it look decayed and burnt from the Nether's heat.

  • Wither Effect: When it attacks a player, it inflicts the Wither status effect, turning the health bar black and draining life, just like other Wither mobs.

  • Drops: it drops a new item called withered flesh, that eaten by player gives them withering.

  • Equipment: It has a rare chance to spawn carrying a Stone Sword, showing it belongs to the same army as the Wither Skeletons in Nether Fortresses.

Why this fits Minecraft:

  • Consistency: It completes the set of biome-specific zombies, joining the Husk and Drowned.

  • Visual Polish: Using the exposed rib model already found in the game files for the Zombie Horse makes it feel like an official Mojang design.

  • Gameplay: It provides a unique combat challenge that fits the high-risk environment of the Nether.
