To clarify: the original post would always be what you see, the amendment post would be a tab (maybe a golden bookmark) in the corner of the post. Anyone with a "notable" comment would be able to edit a portion of the amendment post, they would need permission from other collaborators to edit portions other people added, unless put up to a vote. The amendment post can be edited freely, but the comments voted into the amendment needed permission from the commenter to be edited, or can be edited if a vote is held, or if a different comment is deemed more useful, suitable, or overall an improvement from the original.
This would encourage community brainstorming on a singular idea, instead of making different posts about the same topic or having their comments overlooked. The original post should be viewed as a sort of skeleton; the amendment should flesh out the skeleton, and replace only a few ribs if needed. The amendments would have higher character limits, this way the post can be more detailed. Amendments would exist to add to the original post and fix any difficult to understand language and typos the original post may have.
Collaborators could be; staff, chosen by the og post owner, and popular commenters dictated by votes and views.
Not my best idea, I wish someone could help me improve this post with an easy to notice tab of sorts dedicated to improving it's understandability and clarifying certain topics, maybe even improving my own ideas and adding more to this post...
