I think we should be able to modify the components of items that are stored inside player inventories.
The current item modifier system is great for changing items in simple ways, but however, for more dynamic purposes such as decreasing the durability of an item, dynamically setting attack values, max damage and others, allowing datapack makers and command users to do such things much more easily would be appreciated, since it increases the possibilities for datapack and command users alike
The way it would be done is obvious: validating inputs and removing that check from the game's code.
