Potentially make the wandering trader an inhabitant of the village. If the wandering trader has a levelling system where you buy enough from him, it could unlock a special bed, which allows the wandering trader to stay in a village. This can be interpreted as a way to keep the trader for decoration purposes, as it wouldn’t restock, as it has not left the village to collect any exotic items. Or it could turn the wandering trader into a normal villager. Alternatively the wandering trader could restock but only items dependant on the biome which could allow you to buy sand, cacti, cacti flowers, dead bushes, dry grass and green dye in deserts for example, the ocean could provide coral blocks, sea pickles, lime dye, fish buckets and nautilus shells. Another idea could be that the wandering trader just comes with levels which allows you to trade for rarer exotic items the higher level it is, like sniffer eggs at a master level. This could be balanced as wandering traders aren’t permanent and this would have to be repeated, which would help balance the likely excess of emeralds that high level minecraft players have or make tough items more accessible to people who arent as skilled at the game. There could be new maps aswell that would lead you to a biome you are searching for (not unlike village maps) but could lead you to rarer biomes, most expensively the pale garden, dark oak and mushroom island.
