Right now, bats in Minecraft only spawn in dark caves and don’t do much. I think it would be awesome if bats flew out of caves at night and fluttered around forests, mountains, or even villages. It would make the night feel more alive and spooky — perfect for atmosphere!
New Features:
-
Bats come out of caves at night and return to caves at dawn. Make sure a lot of bats come out of their caves.
-
They could hang from trees or fly in groups.
-
Maybe they react to light — flying away from torches or lanterns.
- There could also be flying foxes which are basically bats but larger and more orange. They don't spawn or come out of caves but instead spawn on trees since in the wild they don't live in caves. But they are less common but not rare as vampire bats. Check the bottom for more information about vampire bats.
- Not all bats are friendly. So they can also add vampire bats that are neutral at day and hostile at night. They make you lose 1 health point when hostile by attacking you like phantoms. To tell if they are vampire bats they will have red eyes and sharp teeth sticking out and also a much darker colour to identify it far away. But they are also rarer than normal bats and flying foxes.
- If you are lucky they can drop items like apples or stuff. But only flying foxes and rarely normal bats but not Vampire bats
This would make bats more interesting and give players a reason to explore at night without making the game harder.
