I would like to suggest a new exploration-focused event that reuses existing mobs and structures:
Ocean Raids Triggered by Sunken Treasure
When a player finds and opens a chest in a Sunken Ship or underwater ruin,
there could be a chance to trigger a small Pillager raid at sea.
This would represent ocean raiders or “pirate-like” Pillagers protecting valuable treasure.
How this could work:
- The event would be rare and not guaranteed
- Pillagers could spawn on boats or nearby shorelines
- The encounter would be short and localized, not a full village raid
- It would focus on ambush and surprise rather than large-scale combat
This would:
- Make ocean exploration feel more dangerous and rewarding
- Give Sunken Ships more narrative depth
- Reuse existing mobs (Pillagers) instead of introducing new ones
- Create memorable moments tied to player discovery
The goal is not to punish the player,
but to add tension and storytelling when valuable loot is found,
similar to how exploration already works on land.
Overall, this would make oceans feel more alive,
and treasure hunting more exciting and unpredictable.
