In the recent snapshot (26.1 v5), a new item called the Golden Dandelion was added.
Currently, it prevents baby mobs from growing, and players can craft this item.
I would like to share some feedback regarding its acquisition.
I believe the Golden Dandelion would be much more interesting and meaningful if it were exclusive to the Sniffer,
instead of being craftable by the player.
The Sniffer’s core design is about discovering ancient and rare plants.
The Golden Dandelion fits this theme extremely well, both visually and mechanically.
Making it Sniffer-exclusive would:
- Give players a stronger reason to search for and interact with Sniffers
- Reinforce the identity and purpose of the mob
- Make the item feel special and rare, instead of easily mass-produced
- Encourage exploration and long-term gameplay rather than simple crafting
By tying the Golden Dandelion directly to the Sniffer,
the item becomes part of a discovery system instead of just another craftable utility.
This would align very well with Minecraft’s exploration-focused design philosophy.
This is not about removing functionality,
but about making the item feel more connected to the world and its creatures.
