Suggestion: Waxed Redstone Dust
Redstone is one of Minecraft’s most creative systems, but it has a few long-standing limitations, especially with underwater builds, vertical wiring, and signal interference. I would like to suggest a new variant called Waxed Redstone Dust.
Waxed Redstone Dust could be crafted using 8 Redstone Dust + 1 Honeycomb, similar to how waxing copper works. The waxed variant would not generate power by itself, but would transmit redstone signals with some unique properties:
It can be placed underwater without being washed away
It can be placed on vertical surfaces (walls) to allow cleaner vertical wiring
It does not connect to normal redstone dust, allowing parallel signal lines without interference
This block would not replace existing redstone components like repeaters or comparators. Instead, it would act as a quality-of-life block that improves readability, compactness, and creative freedom in redstone builds, especially for underwater bases and complex contraptions.
Using honeycomb fits well with existing game logic, since waxing already represents insulation and stabilization in Minecraft. Overall, Waxed Redstone Dust would expand building possibilities while staying consistent with current mechanics and balance.
