I suggest adding Deer to the Forest, Taiga, and Meadow biomes. They would make the woods feel more alive and provide unique mechanics related to wildlife.
1. Appearance and Variants:
Bucks: Have large antlers and are slightly larger.
Does: Smaller and without antlers.
Fawns: Small, spotted calves that follow their parents.
In Winter/Cold biomes, they could have a thicker, lighter coat.
2. Unique Mechanic: Antler Shedding
In real life, deer shed their antlers once a year. In Minecraft, a Buck has a small chance to drop an "Antler" item every few in-game days.
Antlers can be used to craft Bone Meal or used in a Smithing Table to add a unique "Spiky" decoration to Helmets (purely cosmetic or adding minor thorns damage).
3. Behavior:
Deer are very skittish. If a player runs or jumps nearby, they will quickly bolt away. To get close, the player must crouch (sneak) or hold Carrots or Apples. They are also natural enemies of Wolves.
4. Drops:
Venison: A new meat that restores 3 hunger points (raw) and 8 (cooked).
Leather: Used for crafting.
5. Interaction:
You can breed them using Apples or Blueberries (Yafyna). They help keep the forest clean by occasionally "grazing" on tall grass.
