Let's Launch Minecraft 26.1 with Lunar New Year! A Player's Idea

Hi Mojang Team,

 

First off, thank you for the endless creativity and adventure. My IGN is Jackinf, and like millions of others, I've grown up with these blocks.

 

I have a suggestion about the upcoming version numbering change. Since the snapshot/pre-release for 26.0 is released in late 2025, would you consider launching the first full release under the new system—Minecraft 26.1—on February 17, 2026?

 

That day is Lunar New Year's Day, the start of the Year of the Fire Horse. It's a global celebration of renewal and new beginnings. Releasing 26.1 on this day would:

 

· Symbolically align a new version era with a worldwide cultural moment of "starting fresh."

· Create a memorable launch story that resonates deeply with a huge part of the player community.

· Feel like a natural, meaningful progression from the test phase (26.0) to a stable new beginning (26.1).

 

I know development timelines are paramount, and quality can't be rushed. This is just a thought from a player who thinks the synergy between the date and the update is too perfect to ignore.
