Minecraft Bedrock already supports controller-first gameplay and runs on Linux-based platforms such as Android.
With the rapid growth of the Steam Deck and Linux gaming, the lack of official Bedrock support on Linux/SteamOS creates unnecessary friction for players who already own Minecraft.
The Steam Deck allows players to take PC gaming anywhere. “Minecraft anywhere” fits this perfectly, yet Bedrock access is currently restricted by operating system rather than hardware capability.
Many Steam Deck and Linux users actively play Minecraft Java today but are unable to access Bedrock features such as:
Bedrock Realms
Marketplace content
Minecoin purchases
This is a blocked, not absent, audience.
An official Bedrock build or supported launcher for Linux/SteamOS would:
Unlock new Bedrock Realm subscriptions
Increase Marketplace and Minecoin purchases
Reduce reliance on unsupported third-party launchers
Improve platform consistency for controller-based devices like Steam Deck
The hardware, performance, and control compatibility already exist. Supporting Linux/SteamOS would be both a player-focused improvement and a commercial opportunity.
