this post is exclusively about the doFireTick gamerule, although there are other changed gamerules that are equally horrible changes.
The wiki now says that the new command BOTH causes infinite fire and no spread if set to 0, which are actually two separate game mechanics. For example, the average person trying to disable firetick wants fire to behave as normal on normal blocks vs. blocks like netherrack, but have it not spread to flammable blocks. Your new command retcons these mechanics, combining them in a convoluted and unnecessary way.
Plus, the name fire_spread_radius_around_player is much longer and unnecessarily complicated for millions of users who have known doFireTick for years. All this does is change mechanics that worked fine in the past and force people to learn something new that doesn't help them anyway.
