When opening a singleplayer world to LAN, the host player has full operator permissions (effectively level 4), but the UI always shows permission/administration level as 0.
This number represents the command’s required permission level, not the player’s actual permission level, but the UI does not make this distinction clear.
As a result, LAN mode provides misleading information, especially for datapack and command developers.
There is no operator-permission-level in integrated/LAN servers, yet the UI implies a permission system similar to dedicated servers.
Suggested improvements:
-
Clearly separate “Required permission level” and “Your permission level” in the UI, or
-
Hide permission level display entirely in LAN mode, or
-
Deprecate LAN mode in favor of clearer server models.
Currently, LAN behaves like a half-singleplayer, half-server system and causes unnecessary confusion.
