I would like to suggest the addition of a Carpenter villager to Minecraft.
Currently, the game has several professions and blocks related to stone and ores (like the Mason with the Stonecutter, or the Toolsmith and Weaponsmith). However, there is no specialized profession dedicated specifically to wood, which is one of the most fundamental resources in the game.
Why the Carpenter?
- Job Site Block: The Crafting Table. It is the most iconic block in the game and the only functional village block that currently doesn't have a dedicated profession.
- Game Balance: While we have the Mason to trade stone-related items, players lack a way to trade wood types or wooden architectural blocks efficiently.
- Trades: The Carpenter could buy raw logs and planks and sell items like fences, gates, trapdoors, signs, and even rare wood types (like Cherry or Mangrove) that might be far from the player's base.
By adding the Carpenter, the Crafting Table finally gets its own villager, and the game's economy becomes more balanced between stone-working and wood-working professions.
I think Minecraft would benefit greatly from a 'Wood Mini-Update'. While we have many stone variations, we need more wood-related blocks, items, and features. Adding new wooden decorative blocks or even a dedicated 'Carpenter' profession would make the game’s building system much richer. A small update focused entirely on expanding wood utility would be amazing for the community!
