Why are glasses, (a universal staple,) not somehow implemented

I understand that it’s difficult to fit certain things onto a 64x64 player skin, but with such a universal staple, how has it somehow not been done yet? I know that there are ways to get glasses looking good, and still having the Minecraft vibe and goal, so why is it not in? (And please don’t say that it’s because there is no way to accomplish the Minecraft vibe because we both know that is not true, and many things in the official store don’t feel like Minecraft at all.)
