Minecoins can be very useful and can allow players to expand their worlds with addons or texture packs but always have to be purchased and can't be earned in any way.
The Problem
The main issue is that with the latest code update made most items from Curseforge or other addons sites outside of Minecraft very broken/unusable which make people turn to buying things but, money doesn't grow on trees and Minecraft is already a larger purchase for some and then they can look to other alternatives like some rip off, and with the growth of newer Minecraft videos which are unfortunately sent to the youth, they will get the game and be extremely upset that they have to pay even more money. On a side note in the Minecraft Marketplace agreement it does state some restrictions which may be a hiccup for some addon makers who will then turn to a third party site just so people can enjoy their content.
The Solution
The grand solution would be to have achievements, daily/hourly quests, and maybe passive Minecoins from playtime as it allows players to have reward from the time they have played to maybe urge them to continue playing. For the side note maybe add somewhat of an age system for 12+ users to only be able to access certain areas by verification, parental access, or like "Youtube" does, a hard math equation only older ages can answer.
