The current mincraft software doesn’t support video play ingame. Why would you want videoplay ingame? Ive put together a few reasons or applications of video play ingame; one as a tool for mojang to be able to promote new updates in game imagine a craftable tv which sits in your base (looks good as a decorative item but also functions as a media source for mojang for giving player updates and communications of minecraft events) and if you are thinking is that it? No wait there is more in minecraft media (such as element studios; the folks who make villager news and the update animation videos [videos can be found on youtube] ) it would give the possibility to play small video clips ingame, it would also open up the possibility to allow animators creation opertunity via the marketplace addons or via java mods allowing minecraft ingame videos. (Imagine you have a city add on and want ingame style advertisement as part of the asthetic or you have an alien based add on and want a news update playing on the tv that aliens have landed, if you have a animal add on and want animal documentaries playing on the tv, a sports add on and want sports animations playing on your tv. You have a village add on where a cinema is available the minecraft movies ingame could be both relevant and or fun to watch. The only thing stopping this type of development is the engine used by minecraft. Im not asking for the engine to be changed just enable video playback in the engine settings.
